The woman was alive when she was discovered by the church organist on a path in the grounds of St John’s Church in Carluke on Sunday morning.
She was taken to Wishaw General hospital but died a short time later.

I had this book passed on to me by a friend who had suffered a great personal loss.
I can’t explain how deeply moving the pages are, and how significant it is to those who are, or will, deal with people through time of grief.
This book is written by a professor/theologian from Calvin college who lost his son to a mountain climbing accident. It is a very profound glimpse into the mind and soul of an individual struggling with grief.

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end.
He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke of the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all

Know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own,
The cars, the house, the cash,
What …

This is from a secular marketing blog I frequent… though it’s not “spiritual” in nature, the author unwittingly tells a very spiritual description of Jackson, his quest, and his end.

In 1984, at the height of his mega-fame in the wake of Thriller, Jacko’s hair caught on fire while he was filming a Pepsi commercial for BBDO. Even in the pre-Internet age, and though he wasn’t that badly hurt, the story was everywhere, all …

I was conversing with a friend recently, discussing the issue of preachers among us walking away from holiness and Apostolic doctrine. He made the statement, “Their ‘revelation’ today is building a prison that their children will inhabit tomorrow.”
This statement brought to mind a sobering story heard recently.
Pastor Doug White, from Silsbee, Texas was approached by a father/son team in his church about a ‘job opportunity’ that was presented to them. The Dad is a foreman on large construction jobs, and he was given a proposal to manage a large project …

Do NOT ride in automobiles.
They cause 20% of all fatal accidents.
Do NOT stay home.
17% of all accidents occur in the home.
Do NOT walk on the streets or sidewalks.
14% of all accidents happen to pedesdtrians.
Do NOT travel by air, rail, or water.
16% of all accidents happen that way.
BUT DO GO TO CHURCH!
Only .001% (yes that’s “point” 001) of all deaths occur in worship services in church, and these are related to previous physical disorders. Hence, the safest place for you to be, most of the time, is church. One place which …
