A recent survey by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers found that Facebook is cited in one in five divorces in the United States. Also, more than 80 percent of divorce lawyers reported a rising number of people are using social media to engage in extramarital affairs.
“We’re coming across it more and more,” said licensed clinical psychologist Steven Kimmons, Ph.D., of Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill. “One spouse connects online with someone they knew from high school. The person is emotionally available and they start communicating through Facebook. …

During those final days of the collapsing Marxist experiment in the Soviet Union, Soviet novelist Chingiz Aitmatov retold the following story, which has been paraphrased here.
On one occasion, so it was narrated, Stalin called for a live chicken and proceeded to use it to make an unforgettable point before some of his henchmen. Forcefully clutching the chicken in one hand, with the other he began to systematically pluck out its feathers. As the chicken struggled in vain to escape, he continued with the painful denuding until the bird was completely …

Many points emerge from this real-life situation. Why had the man strayed from safety? What caused him to fall? Why were the rescue efforts abandoned? How far should we go in reaching those who are lost? At what point is our own danger enough to abandon the rescue attempt?

If all the sleeping folk would wake up.
All the lukewarm folk would fire up.
All the dishonest folk would confess up.
All the disgruntled folk would sweeten up.
All the discouraged folk would cheer up.
All the depressed folk would look up.
All the estranged folk would make up.
All the gossipers would shut up.
All the dry bones would shake up.
All the true soldiers would stand up.
All the tightwads would pay up.
All the church members would pray up.
Then we could have a REVIVAL like Hezekiah had

Ministry Is…
Giving when you feel like keeping,
Praying for others when you need to be prayed for,
Feeding others when your own soul is hungry,
Living truth before people even when you can’t see results,
Hurting with other people even when your own hurt can’t be spoken,
Keeping your word even when it’s not convenient,
Being faithful when your flesh wants to run away.

The islands were intended as the ultimate luxury possession, even for Dubai.
But the World, the ambitiously-constructed archipelago of islands shaped like the countries of the globe, is sinking back into the sea, according to evidence cited before a property tribunal.
The islands were intended to be developed with tailor-made hotel complexes and luxury villas, and sold to millionaires. They are off the coast of Dubai and accessible by yacht or motor boat.
Now their sands are eroding and the navigational channels between them are silting up, the British lawyer for a company …

Taco Bell pulled all their advertising from a racy MTV show called Skins because, “Upon further review, we’ve decided that the show is not a fit for our brand and have moved our advertising to other MTV programming,”
Now, I’m not advocating MTV nor Taco Bell’s choices of shows to advertise on, but I did find it interesting that there was a line for them that was too far to support with their advertising. I also recognize that their advertising choices are not based on morality, but on economics… outrage your …

Six humans trapped by happenstance
In dark and bitter cold
Each possessed a stick of wood–
Or so the story’s told.
Their dying fire in need of logs,
But the first one held hers back,
For, of the faces around the fire,
She noticed one was black.
The next one looked cross the way
Saw one not of his church,
And could not bring himself to give
The fire his stick of birch.
The third one sat in tattered clothes
He gave his coat a hitch,
Why should his log …

A check in your wallet does you very little good. It represents opportunity, for certain, but not action. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke about spoiled potential
We are now faced with the fact, my friends, that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there is such a thing as being too late. Procrastination is still the thief of time. Life often leaves us standing bare, naked, and dejected with a lost opportunity. The tide in the affairs of men …

Ephesians 4:11 tells us that God has anointed some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers. Silk describes these fivefold anointings in terms of what each might do at the scene of a car accident (see pp.53-55):
The pastor applies first aid, dispenses blankets and water. He gathers vital sign information, talks to everyone about their emergency contact details and brings a sense of calm to the situation.
The teacher studies the scene to see what caused the accident and what might be …
