Prodigals need to know there’s a home to return to, but generally left alone till they come to their own mind… Lost sheep need someone to chase them. Sometimes we get that backwards… waiting for sheep to find their own way (while they’re begging for someone to help them), and hounding on the prodigal to come home (while they’re begging to be left alone).

So true. It’s like what Jude said in Jude 23. “Some save with compassion, making a difference. Others pulling then out of the fire. Hating the garment spotted by the flesh.” Some need gentle treatment, others need tough love, Lord help me know which approach to use in each case!
Great point. What a challenge to know the difference between a prodigal bent on wasting potential and a sheep straying. God give us wisdom!
