A Result of Violent Video Games

Are violent video games benign, values-neutral entertainment? Not according to the case of Daniel Petric.

Teenager Daniel Petric had an obsession with a violent video game that warped his sense of reality. When his parents realized its harmful effects and took the game away, he murdered them his mother and nearly fatally wounded his father by shooting them both in the head. The AP news story quotes the judge as saying, “I firmly believe that Daniel Petric had no idea at the time he hatched this plot that if he killed his parents they would be dead forever.” His defense attorney pled not guilt by reason of insanity.

Not correct. Only one parent was murdered. Please validate info before giving it.

    Melinda,

Thank you for the clarification… I have edited this entry to reflect the fact that Daniel Petric murdered his mother and nearly fatally wounded his father by shooting them both in the head.

While the fact that one survived is accurate, the heinous act perpetrated by this teenager is reprehensible. Please note that this blog entry is merely a prospective illustration denoting the impact of violent video games and has nothing to do with any personal feelings or attack on this teenage murderer.
