Friends and Family Service – Economic Stimulus

As a promotion in our church, we prayed over many letters with dollar bills attached to them.
A week later, at our Friends and Family day service, we gave these letters and dollars to each household… members and visitors… as a token of faith in God for our prayers to be answered.

Here is the text of the letter that each family received:

Dear friend,

It would be a great understatement to say that our world is facing challenging times. With jobless rates the highest they’ve been in recent memory, stock markets crashing and the value of the dollar at all time lows, we need more help than any government leader can provide. What we need is intervention that is divine and miraculous. We need the hand of God to provide, protect and comfort in these critical times. Here at the Pentecostals of Kentwood, we believe the Bible is the True word of God, and that its promises can be counted on.

While we believe the rewards of living for Jesus Christ are primarily spiritual, He has also promised those who follow Him that we would not have to worry about the necessities of life. As the old spiritual song says, “His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me”. It’s our desire that your life is blessed and provided for, and we have taken this request to God on your behalf.

Attached to this letter is a dollar bill that our church has prayed for and anointed with oil. Please understand that there is nothing magical in this. It is simply an object that we have attached our faith and prayers to as we request the hand of God to provide in your life and household. Similar to the “prayer cloths” of Bible times, we believe that God will honor this faith as we agree together for His blessings.

You may spend this dollar if you wish, or simply put it in a prominent place to remind you that you’re being prayed for and that, as you follow after Him, He will always provide for you.

May God bless you richly now and into the future.

Sincerely,

Your friends at
The Pentecostals of Kentwood

Also in our service, we gave away some cash… drawing seat numbers. $100, $50, and some $20’s.

Before and after church, we also took digital photos of our members with their friends and family and mailed the photos to each of our guests as a keepsake. Before printing (online through Walgreen… great prices) we overlaid the photos with our Friends/Family Day logo and church name. A Great time!
