Matthew, Mark, Luke and John record many questions asked by Jesus during His 3 ½ year ministry.
Let’s examine four of these pointed, powerful, probing and soul searching questions:
#1 …
“When the Son of man comes, shall He find faith in the earth?” (Luke 18:8)
1] There are fundamentally two kinds of faith:
A Faith in, or belief in, God.
B] Faith for miracles.
2] When the question is asked, “Will He find faith when He returns?” It’s referring to our faith in God and the things of God.
3] The faith of the faithful is under fire today like never before in history.
A] Anti-God and anti-Godliness sentiments are declared openly and without reservation today in the political world, education system, media … And every other arena of life.
4] I believe He will find faith in the earth when He returns … He will find men and women who have believe that He IS … And that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
#2 …
“What will ye that I shall do unto you?” (Matt. 20:32)
1] I have often told my wife and daughter “I would do anything for you that is within my power.” There isn’t anything I would not do for them, if they needed it, if it was within my power.
A] Jesus has marvelous power and is able to do things for us that we cannot do for ourselves.
(1) He can: Heal the sick … Restore sight … Cause the lame to walk … Raise the dead … Set you free from sin … Fill you with the precious gift of the Holy Spirit.
B] Jesus is both willing and able to meet our needs, but we must ask!
(1) “Ask and you shall receive.”
(2) “You have not because you ask not.”
#3 …
“Lovest thou me more than these?” (John 21:15)
1] Another question asked of Peter.
A] This is the 1st of 3 such questions in a row.
2] The Emphasis is that one must love Jesus the most.
A] I Cor. 16:22, “If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha”
(1) If we don’t love Jesus more that the world we will cut ourselves off from relationship with God.
3] So many voices vying for your attention and affection today:
A] Isa. 66 …
(1) Voice of world … “Love not the world…”
(2) Voice of religion …
(3) Voice of the Lord.
#4 …
“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matt. 16:26)
1] These questions are in a category by themselves … apart from all other questions He asks … These are questions that demand an immediate answer.
2] Some questions you might be able to ignore … At least for a while.
A] “Dad are you going to let me go to CLC next year?”
3] You cannot afford to ignore a question that has to do with your soul and where it will spend eternity.
4] “Preacher, can you give me your opinion as to what I need to do to be saved?”
A] You don’t need my opinion, or any other man’s opinion for that matter, you need to obey the Word of the Lord.
