Matthew 16:16-17
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
Peter lived in a place of revelation in which the depth of who Jesus was unfolded for him in regularity. Through his relationship with the Christ, he learned more and more about this man who was much more than just the son of a Carpenter.
The excitement Peter must have felt each time a nugget of understanding fell from Christ’s words or actions and planted itself in his heart. Revelation. The revealing of more of Jesus.
It was not just revelation, however. And it was not just a relationship. It was the beautiful marriage of the two. An experience we all should strive for. Revelation-ship!
